Tier 12 Armor Set Preview

They’ve got the armor set preview for the upcoming tier 12 items up on the WoW main page.  Since I’m a styling dude (not really) I feel obligated to rate the new looks.  I’m sure nobody will agree with me, but I’m gonna grade the new armor anyways.  Take that interwebs.  I’m mostly gonna focus on helms, shoulders and color scheme, since the rest of the armor is mostly just a big texture anyway.  Click the pictures for the full view.

 

First up is the warrior tier 12 armor.  For WoW armor, it’s actually fairly understated, something I can appreciate.  The shoulders are far less outlandish than past shoulders, which I like.  The overall color scheme is solid.  What sells me on this set is the helm.  It’s simple, but fairly fierce looking.  I don’t say this much, but I’d actually consider keeping my helm shown in this set.  Not bad.

Grade: A.  Me likey.

 

 

Next we have the Druid tier 12 armor.  First off, it’s modeled on a night elf.  Lame.  Second, I have no clue what to make of this.  The shoulders are…uh…odd.  What are they?  Mini volcanoes with lights hanging off them?  I don’t get it.  Things don’t get any better with the helm.  A slab of wood with some horns?  This set seriously confuses me.

Grade: D.  Me no understand.

 

The shaman tier 12 armor gets us back on track some after the WTF inducing druid armor.  The shoulders are nice and the overall outfit looks good.  The helm, again, confuses me.  A big collar with a flaming something or other in the back?  Think I’d go helm off on this one.

Grade: C.  Meh.

 

Nanananananananana Spider-Man…Spider-Man.  Here comes Warlock on the clothes line but his name’s not Warlock it is Spider Man…Spider Man!  Er, what?  Where I am?  If you’re confused, good for you.  If not, stop watching so much TV.  Anyway, Warlocks apparently get spider themed tier 12 armor.  Hoozah?  The color scheme is nice and I like the shoulders, but seriously, why is it all spidery?  Spider shoulders, spider helm, spider skirt, spider belt.  Maybe you’ll get spider senses.

Grade: C+.  Honestly, I don’t think it looks that bad, but Spider themed armor is odd.

 

Next up, we have the tier 12 armor for which is very clearly for ninjas.  Wait, I’m being told this is for Paladins, my mistake.  I’m really getting confused.  How in the world is this Paladin armor?  The shoulders are nice.  The mask looks like it belongs to a cult, but otherwise not bad.  And overall, the armor looks nice.  But it also looks like cloth.  Am I just crazy here?  This looks like a warlock or priest set more than anything.  I think the theme so far is that the tier 12 armor confuses me.

Grade: B+.  Honestly, I like the look of this set.  I’d actually rate it higher if I thought it looked appropriate for a Paladin.

 

Well everybody’s heard about the bird…B-b-b-b-b-b-b-bird….Nevermind.  Apparently Mages are Phoenixs.  Everything about the mage set it stupid.  Do I need to say much more?  Look at it.  It looks like a chicken costume.

Grade:  L.  For lol.

 

ZzzzZzzzZzzzZzzz.  Sorry, I find this set boring.  And is that a falcon head on the shoulders?  More bird stuff, awesome.  But seriously, this set just lacks interest.  Helm would definitely get hidden for me as well.

Grade: D-.  You can do better than that Blizzard.

 

Remember how I said they could do better?  This is better.  The shoulders on these are pretty nice.  I like the orange color to this too.  The helm is, much like most of these sets, odd.  The satanic horns seem a bit overdone, not sure why hunters get a demonic horn theme.  What’s with the goblin ears and eyepatch though?  Are we wearing a demon goblin pirate’s face as a helm?  Why, what, why?  Helm = hidden.

Grade: B.  Without the helm it’s pretty good.  Helm is just strange.

 

And on to DK’s we go.  The shoulders are pretty standard death knight fare at this point, but I like the neon purple or whatever that is its got going on.  The rest of the armor is bleh, not much to look at.  The helm…and believe me, I’m as tired of typing this as you probably are reading it, is odd.  Typical DK horns, but then weird Paladin cliched wing things on it.  Once again, helm would be off for me on this set.

Grade: C+.  The shoulders are nice, the rest is uninspired.

 

Last, but far from least, is the priest tier 12 armor.  I’m not gonna lie, I like this set.  I like the shoulder flames.  A lot.  The helm is actually alright.  I could have my helm enabled and not feel too bad in this set.  The rest of the armor is a bit bland, but doesn’t offend my eyesight.

Grade: A-.  A little lacking in flare for the robe, but everything else is pretty good.
